Gran Canaria rightly so is also referred to as a "miniature continent". A diverse scenery, clean air and the best climate in the world create wonderful opportunities for hikers, especially between October and June.
Almost untouched by mass tourism in the south is the interior of the island. Spectacular landscapes with bizarre rock formations, rugged mountains, deep canyons and numerous lakes remind you of the famous national parks in the south west of the United States.
It is not unusual to hear a comment like: " I really never imagined Gran Canaria that beautiful!"
